A BoldVu® outdoor display (right) continues to deliver vibrant image quality after more than three years of operation in Las Vegas, Nevada.
AS VEGAS, NV — During the Las Vegas June 2026 InfoComm show, our team visited several of the 86” BoldVu® XT (5000 nit) DooH units deployed by OutFront Media/RTC that have been operating 24/7 since August 2022.
On the day the above picture was taken, the local ambient temperature was 108°F (42°C), with the intake “cooling” air under the roof of the shelter measuring approximately 120°F (49°C). Even with these brutal temperatures and Las Vegas sun, the BoldVu® digital advertising content was extremely bold, bright, and vibrant with saturated colors and high image contrast, particularly when compared to the sun-faded paper poster advertising seen in the background.
Notice the lack of internal dirt, debris, and lack of any kind of degradation of the digital image in the above photo. Despite living in the desert for 3+ years, with windblown sand and proximity to bus/car exhaust and brake dust … no hint of dust intrusion. This is due to the BoldVu® being IP66 sealed, with no external air/contaminants able to enter the optics or electronics of the unit. With no external air entering, BoldVu® has no air filters, BoldVu® has no periodic or recurring maintenance, and BoldVu® rarely, if ever, needs to be opened. Therefore, BoldVu® units stay internally cool, clean, and dry for their 10+ year service life.
The site visit provided a valuable opportunity to evaluate real-world performance in one of the most demanding outdoor environments in North America and gather direct feedback from the customer.
Color and Brightness That Stand Out
One of the first observations was the display’s exceptional visibility in direct sunlight. Despite years of exposure to intense desert conditions, the BoldVu® displays continue to deliver vibrant colors, sharp image quality, and strong contrast.
On another visit to Simon Property Group – Las Vegas North Premium Outlets, on-site property management, when asked about their reaction to their newly acquired BoldVu® XT (5000 nit) double-sided wayfinding kiosks had the following responses:
- The BoldVu® visuals are unbelievable: sharp and vibrant with saturated colors and very high contrast regardless of the Las Vegas temperatures, sun intensity or sun angle.
- The BoldVu® units are absolutely beautiful under all day/night conditions. It was often difficult to tell if the previous competitive units were on during the day as without blocking the sun you could not even see the image.
- The BoldVu® units never fail, never need to be opened. Previous competitive units overheated frequently, continuously failed, and required perpetual service to try to keep them alive.
- The BoldVu® units are cool to the touch, which is imperative for wayfinding kiosks. Previous units were not only difficult to see, but no one wanted to touch them as they were so hot they could burn or blister your skin.
- The BoldVu® units are quiet, even in the extreme Las Vegas heat. Previous units were obnoxiously loud. They could be heard, but not seen, whereas the BoldVu® visuals are stunning. BoldVu® units can be seen but not heard.
- One customer comment, repeated many times during the visit, was how saturated and rich the colors are in images presented on BoldVu® displays. Rich colors, particularly the deep red tones featured in Coca-Cola® advertising content, remained vivid and impactful even in a direct Las Vegas setting sun with 108°F (42°C) local temperatures.
- With the BoldVu® units, “ads sell themselves”. Advertising demands and rate cards on the BoldVu® displays exceed all projections. More advertisers than ever are calling to request ads to be placed on the BoldVu® displays.
Engineered for Extreme Heat
Las Vegas is known for prolonged periods of extreme heat, making thermal management a critical component of outdoor display performance.
During the visits, it was verified that the display’s glass surface remained comfortable to touch despite triple-digit ambient temperatures. This performance is made possible through BoldVu®‘s CoolVu™ thermal management system, which continuously manages internal operating temperatures to help protect critical components and maintain consistent display performance.
By effectively managing heat, the system helps maximize reliability, extend product life, and support uninterrupted operation in challenging environmental conditions.
Quiet Performance That Goes Unnoticed
In a city famous for noise, the BoldVu® display’s acoustics stood out as a surprisingly quiet achievement. When the team isolated the ambient sound around the unit and focused on the display, the sound was described as “low and soothing”. An unexpected compliment in an industry where loud cooling fans are typically accepted as an unavoidable nuisance. BoldVu® engineers achieve this by utilizing high-quality fans designed to move greater volumes of air while simultaneously consuming less electricity, along with optimized acoustic engineering. Consequently, every unit runs efficiently, quietly, and without the noise footprint that competing products so often leave behind.
