BoldVu® introduced its Generation 10 outdoor LCD display for media and advertising applications. The new product line includes 55-inch, 75-inch, 86-inch, and 98-inch models. BoldVu® optimized the platform to deliver 3500 nits in real outdoor environments. It also maintains image quality and luminance throughout its 10-year performance life.

Bill Dunn, Chairman of BoldVu®, called the launch a major leap in display technology. For years, BoldVu® maintained 2500-nit luminance in outdoor environments. Now, the new generation reaches 3500 nits. It also maintains performance over the full 10-year product life. According to Dunn, competing products remain far dimmer and cannot match that long-term performance.

At 3500 nits, the new BoldVu® produces stronger visual performance than the previous generation. It delivers 40% more contrast and 10% more color saturation. Outdoor displays must compete with ambient light reflecting off the cover glass. They must also overcome reflections from the front of the LCD.

BoldVu® reduces those reflections with new AG/AR technology. This technology dramatically lowers reflected ambient light. The higher luminance then boosts contrast and color saturation. As a result, images look bolder and more vivid in outdoor environments. Next-generation LCD color filters also improve color saturation. New LED technology further improves color quality and efficiency.

BoldVu® also improves brightness without increasing power demand. The UHD 75-inch BoldVu® reaches 3500 nits using only 13.5 amps peak at 120VAC. That measurement applies when the unit is new in a 25°C ambient environment. After 10 years, it uses 17 amps in a 50°C environment. By comparison, the previous 72-inch FHD BoldVu® reached 2500 nits. That model used 15 amps at 25°C when new. It used 17.5 amps at 50°C after 10 years of aging.

In other words, the new BoldVu® delivers more brightness with less power. It reaches 3500 nits while outperforming the previous 2500-nit generation. BoldVu® also achieved this improvement without increasing the unit price. This gives customers higher brightness, stronger image quality, and better energy efficiency.

Dave Williams, Vice President of Engineering at MRI, emphasized the power-efficiency improvement. He explained that BoldVu® displays already led the market in power efficiency. Now, the new generation runs brighter and uses power even more efficiently. Over 10 years, BoldVu® can reduce power consumption by approximately 50%. At the same time, it delivers image quality that appears twice as bright and bold.
